Belmont United Methodist Church is offering a Sunday Concert for the community to come together to benefit Haiti.  The island country of Haiti suffered what is being described as apocalyptic destruction on January 12, 2010. As the 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck, thousands of buildings crumpled and collapsed, trapping tens of thousands of men, women and children beneath heavy concrete slabs. The death toll will be staggering.  In the rural communities within the area; schools, churches, and homes have been destroyed or severely damaged.

Star of Hope® is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with eleven projects in Haiti that benefit more than 4,500 children who were affected by the destruction.  The mission of Star of Hope is to carry out Christian and humanitarian programs, principally involving the care, up-bringing and education of children and youth.  More information is available from their website, www.starofhope.org, by e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or by phone (866) 653-0321.

For the benefit concert, ‘Michael O’ Oshiver, internationally known harpist, will be performing.  Michael O'  is no ordinary harpist. Blending his “KansasCity Jazz” background with more than 15 years musical experience in the Caribbean, Michael plays rhythms you wouldn’t believe possible on the harp, such as calypso, samba, bossa nova and salsa.  He has performed, recorded or produced for Bob Hope, Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Brubeck, “Dr. Carrol McLaughlin, Bloodstone, Lil Rev, Richie Cole and many more.  Michael is represented by Musication, Inc at www.musication.com and his recordings are featured on Enneagram Records at www.enneagramrecords.com

An accomplished pianist as well, Michael is one of the only people in the world to play both harp and piano at the same time.  This is a must see performance.

Open seating.  A free will offering will be taken.
