Jeanton Preschool Annex has a belt

Yes, a belt. More precisely it has 3 belts.

Jeanton PreSchool Annex is the first permanent construction on a Star of Hope project since the earthquake. The new building is being provided with horizontal structural banding which will provide strength and stability in the event of another earthquake.Mason showing the "belt"

This mason in Haiti is working to tie in the steel structural beam that forms the middle belt for the new preschool Annex. This is a new technique to the local builders so Star of Hope engineers have spent long hours overseeing the work and teaching them why it is important.

The PreSchool structure will be completed by the end of the week and a StarTeam Volunteer group from the USA will arrive to assist with the new steel roof and painting. This visiting group provides a much needed encouragement to the local people.

Kansas StarTeam makes a difference in Hesse

E-mail Print PDF

The Kansas StarTeam Volunteers are heading back home tonight from Haiti. They have been hot, wet, dirty and tired. But with this came blessings and a sense of making a difference. Visitors do make a difference.

The children in Hesse are quite isolated. It is a difficult and expensive trip for them to get out of Hesse. Not too many visitors come either! So when a group of "blancs" arrive, it is a big deal. When they help you deal with how the earthquake has changed your life, that's even a bigger deal.

As the group returns, they would love to share with you, your church or organizations their amazing experience.  To find out more just contact us.

StarTeam volunteers are needed throughout the next years to assist and encourage in the rebuilding of our project facilities in Haiti. In addtion to joining a StarTeam, you can help make a trip happen with a monetary donation which can be done on line by clicking here. These donations will help meet the StarTeam costs in the country where they go to serve.
