The Director of Star of Hope Haiti, the Project Manager for the earthquake recovery and our Donor Services Manager were available for questions.
Featured on the program were guest artists: gospel singer Melanie Ryan; international award winning French dancer/choreographer and singer, Louis Bar and Company;High Vibe; Nina Jerke on the violin and more.
The island country of Haiti suffered what is described as apocalyptic destruction on Jan. 12. As the 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck, thousands of buildings crumpled and collapsed, trapping tens of thousands of men, women and children beneath heavy concrete slabs. The death toll was staggering. In the rural communities within the area; schools, churches, and homes were destroyed or severely damaged.
Star of Hope has been working in partnership with local churches and community committees in Haiti for almost 30 years. The earthquake damaged or destroyed most of the thirteen projects that Star of Hope supports. Ground has been broken in Hesse, which saw total destruction of the church buildng and school.
This is an exciting project in which to invest. Donations, labor and materials will make a long term difference in the lives of the children we serve.
